Finding Community
As you may know, CRU doesn’t just reach young people on the east coast of Australia. Ten years ago, we launched CRU West with the desire to connect young people in Perth and across Western Australia with the gospel.
Since then, CRU West has grown rapidly and now reaches over 10,000 students each year through camps, schools ministry and leadership development.This ministry is also equipping young Christian leaders for the future - Young leaders like Isabel.
“I was first introduced to CRU West when I was in Year 8. I travelled to Perth with a friend from church for CRU Quest – a camp for high schoolers. At the time, I was really struggling with my faith.
I was the only Christian in my school and felt incredibly isolated. My heart grew hard toward those around me, and bitterness began to take over.
But then I came on CRU Quest, and everything changed. I met other Christians my age who also felt alone in their schools. Yet instead of responding with frustration, they showed genuine love to the people around them. Their example challenged my heart and encouraged me deeply. I realised I wasn’t alone anymore.
Over the next four years, I went on eight CRU West camps. I loved the community, the space to grow, and the deep friendships we formed. Most importantly, my faith grew stronger.
So when I finished Year 12, I wanted to give back and thank God for how He had used CRU West in my life. I joined the CRU Summit Program so I could help reach young people and show them who Jesus is and the transforming impact he can have.
God brought CRU West into my life at the perfect time. I was in a difficult place, but God used CRU West to save my faith and redirect my heart.
When I joined, it was a small community, but now it’s ready for significant growth. My prayer is that one day CRU West will reach as many young people as CRU does on the east coast.”
Today, Isabel shares Jesus with hundreds of young people from NSW each week. We want more young leaders like Isabel to grow in faith and then teach the next generation about the goodness of our God. And today, you could be the catalyst to help make that happen.
